As part of the University of Applied Sciences Munich’s institute-wide website redesign, I led the Department of General and Interdisciplinary Studies’ revamp. Using predesigned website templates, I structured and streamlined content for one bachelor’s and one master’s program as well as 163 extracurricular courses, creating a dedicated platform for easy access to department-specific information.
The main goal was to create user-centered navigation that meets each audience’s needs: prospective students want an overview of faculty offerings and current students need practical details like course schedules.
Additionally, the redesign highlighted the department’s achievements, research projects, faculty profiles, and upcoming events to foster community engagement.
It also facilitated communication by including dedicated sections for contact information and support channels.
The extracurricular courses turned out to be the greatest challenge. We divided them into five categories and developed a new online viewing system, replacing the old PDF-only format. Additionally, we migrated content for ten different languages, each requiring its own unique page.
